Confirmation

Sealed with the Holy Spirit

The Gift of the Holy Spirit

This powerful act imparts a permanent spiritual seal and brings a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit, just as the apostles received at Pentecost. This grace deepens our identity as God’s children, unites us more firmly to Christ, and strengthens us with the seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit to be courageous witnesses for our faith in the world.

Scriptural Foundation: "Now when the apostles at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent to them Peter and John, who came down and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit... Then they laid their hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit." (Acts 8:14-17)

The Church Teaches: Confirmation "roots us more deeply in the divine filiation [as children of God]... unites us more firmly to Christ; it increases the gifts of the Holy Spirit in us; it renders our bond with the Church more perfect; it gives us a special strength of the Holy Spirit to spread and defend the faith..." (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1303)

Confirmation at Our Parish

Preparation for this sacrament is offered for both high school students and adults.

For Youth

High School

Our parish offers a one-year Confirmation preparation program, typically for students beginning Year 8. The program helps young people deepen their faith through prayer, service, and fellowship as they prepare to be sealed with the Holy Spirit.

Registration for the 2025-2026 year is now open! Please contact our Director of Faith Formation for schedules and registration details.

For Adults

18 and above

Baptized adult Catholics (18+) who have not yet received Confirmation are warmly invited to complete their Christian initiation through our Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) program. This welcoming journey of faith is the perfect next step for those who have been away for a while or are now ready to deepen their relationship with Christ and be sealed with the Holy Spirit.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • No, quite the opposite. Confirmation is not an end but a beginning. It strengthens us with the Holy Spirit to be true witnesses for Christ in the world. It marks the start of a mature, lifelong journey of discipleship, not the completion of classes (CCC, 1303).

  • The bishop, as a successor to the apostles, is the ordinary minister. His presence signifies that the sacrament strengthens our bond with the universal Church and connects us to its apostolic origins, just as the apostles laid hands on the newly baptized to give them the Holy Spirit (Acts 8:14-17).

  • You are welcome! Baptized adults who have not been confirmed are invited to prepare for the sacrament through the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) program. Please contact the parish office to learn more.

Confirmation is the sacrament that completes the grace of Baptism. Through the anointing with Sacred Chrism, we are sealed with the Holy Spirit, strengthened for our mission as followers of Christ, and more perfectly bound to the Church. It is our personal Pentecost, empowering us to be bold witnesses of the faith in the world.
