Easter Sunday 2025

Easter Sunday at St. Ambrose Barlow Parish was celebrated with joy and gratitude. The congregation joined for a reverent and uplifting Mass as the Resurrection of Our Lord was commemorated. The liturgy featured music, scripture readings, and a warm welcome from our parish community of Saint Charles and Saint Mark. All were invited to participate in prayer, receive the sacraments, and share in fellowship after Mass. Many renewed their faith that Easter morning — a time of hope, renewal, and God’s abundant love.

Vigil Mass 2026

The Easter Vigil Mass, which took place on Saturday 4th April at Saint Mark’s Church, is the occasion each year that the Catholic Church welcomes new members.

During this special Mass, Daniel, who has been given instruction about the faith on a Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA) course, received the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion to become a full member of the Catholic Church. Four children, Luna, Mila, Maeve and Georgina also received the sacrament of Baptism at the Mass. This was the first step for them on their spiritual journey.

We welcome these five new members, and those who have supported them, to the Saint Ambrose Barlow parish family. We will keep them all in our prayers as they continue to learn more about their faith.

We will endeavour to visit monthly and continue to celebrate Mass, led by Fr Emmanuel, to whom we are grateful. We see this outreach as vital: bringing the Eucharist to those who cannot come to church. Feedback was warm and encouraging.

Ash Wednesday at St. Ambrose Barlow

Ash Wednesday begins Lent — a time of repentance, prayer and renewal. As ashes mark our foreheads, we recall our mortality and are called back to God: “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” This is hopeful, not despairing. The ashes urge self-examination, letting go of what separates us from God and neighbour, and embracing prayer, fasting and charity.

Take a moment to quiet your heart. Seek God’s mercy, forgive others, and show kindness to someone in need. Let this Lent be a time of true repentance and renewed commitment to the Gospel.

Young Hands of Christ has launched!

After Mass the hall buzzed with laughter and new friendships as they began their first project, the "Hands" mural. Each painted hand symbolizes unity, service and welcome — a visible sign that our youth are a living gift to the parish. Their prayer, outreach and friendship already refresh our community. Thanks to all who organised and supported the launch. Join Young Hands of Christ — your hands and heart are welcome.
