Vigil Mass 2026
The Easter Vigil at Saint Mark’s on Saturday 4 April was a night of light, song and new beginnings. In the hush before dawn the church filled with candlelight as the Paschal fire and Exsultet ushered in the celebration that each year opens our doors to those who choose to make Saint Ambrose Barlow their spiritual home.
This year we welcomed five new members into the life of the Church. Daniel, who prepared through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), received Baptism and Holy Communion and stood with the community as a fully initiated Catholic. Alongside him, four children — Luna, Mila, Maeve and Georgina — were baptised, their little candles bright against the dark as they took their first step on a lifetime of faith.
The joy of the Vigil was shared by families, sponsors and catechists whose patient guidance and loving support brought these candidates to this moment. As a parish we celebrate their commitment and promise to continue walking with them — in prayer, in teaching and in fellowship — as they grow in faith. We will keep Daniel, Luna, Mila, Maeve and Georgina, and all who have supported them, warmly in our prayers.
