Creation Hike & Prayer: Walk, Pray, Protect Our Common Home

  • Clifton Country Park Manchester, England, M27 6NG United Kingdom (map)

A prayerful stroll along Clifton Marina becomes a gentle act of witness: quiet reflection woven with the visible work of a community litter-pick. In this simple labour we embody our Pillar of CONDUCT and give living shape to Laudato Si’ — taking public ownership of care for creation.

This Year of the Youth invites young people and parishioners to step beyond the church doors and into God’s open air, where stewardship is practised with hands and hearts. With gloves and bags, we gather what mars the beauty of our common home; with bowed heads we offer this small service as prayer. It is environmental mission and synodal action together — charity for creation that makes our parish’s presence in Swinton unmistakably missionary, hopeful and attentive to God’s earth.

The Young Hands of Christ carry this call forward: cleaning the riverside, restoring dignity to the landscape, and consecrating their care as an offering. In doing so they witness that care for creation is both practical service and a spiritual discipline: a visible sign of love for neighbour, earth and Creator.
