The Solemnity of Immaculate Conception of Our Lady
DAILY GOSPEL MEAL:
Dear brothers and sisters, listen to the beautiful “yes” of the Blessed Virgin Mary. When the angel came with such tremendous news, she didn’t say, “Let me think about it” or “I’m not worthy.” She simply said, “Be it done to me according to your word.”
This is the life of submission to the will of God perfectly lived. Mary didn’t understand everything—how could she? But she trusted completely, like a tiny child putting her hand in father’s hand without asking where they’re going.
You see, Mary was immaculate; she was conceived without sin but this doesn’t mean she never struggled or wondered. It means her heart was so pure, so simple, that when God asked, she could say “yes” immediately, without all our hesitations and fears.
We can learn from our Mother Mary. We make everything so complicated with our worries: “Am I good enough? What will happen? Can I really do this?” But Mary shows us that in our relationship with God, we just say yes! Trust like a little child.
Today, let’s ask our Immaculate Mother to teach us her simple “fiat.” We need the effect of that beautiful, trusting “yes” that brought Jesus into the world and can bring Him into our hearts too!
God bless you!
